Bar terrace improvements during lockdown February 2021
– Andrew Beale, Managing Director
The bar terrace at West Lodge Park is popular year round, and thus any improvements are difficult to achieve without impeding guest access.
Bar Terrace Phase one now complete before Christmas!
Phase two – construction of the solid oak gazebos follow in January and February!
Two new oak gazebos each 3m x 3m are now up and awaiting their cedar shingle roofs!
Steve and Roy are working through the coldest weather in 20 years to build the gazebos!
Although the lockdown is hugely negative for us for many reasons, it does at least allow us to achieve our long held ambition of significantly expanding the bar terrace for our guests, and to provide heated, lit and roofed areas for the first time.
It will be some 210 m2 in size, with seating for up to 90 during normal times,
Lighting – power will be trenched to all four corners of the terrace with festoon lighting, warm white LED golf bulbs, and some more interesting lighting too.
Heating – via 1.5kw heaters in the roofed areas
Cushions – will be out once Covid is over
Blankets – furry ones will be purchased once Covid is over to extend the evenings, and shoulder seasons
Roofing – four 3m x 3m roofed pergolas will be on the terrace, the rest of the space will be open pergolas but with the possibility of roofing via canvas at any time.
Furniture – we have ample Bridgeman garden furniture for three lines of tables and chairs, see the second of the two plans for possible layouts although these will be flexible
Sides – roll up sides will protect from the wind when needed on SW, S, and SE elevations of furthest pergolas
Woodwork – smart dark wood roofed pergolas, plenty of open pergolas too, trellis too, plus planters to break up the space
Paving – smart Indian stone Autumn brown + recycled York stone
Sizing – 21m x 10m – a very substantial terrace of 210m2

We look forward to being able to serve you drinks and food on our smart new terrace!
