The landscape of Enfield Chase, which surrounds West Lodge Park, reflects the successive changes that have taken place over the last 10,000 years, leaving features that are much older than we might think.

Join us for a fascinating talk by John Leatherdale on the local history of Enfield Chase, followed by lunch in the Mary Beale restaurant. There will also be an afternoon tour around the Beale Arboretum hosted by Andrew Beale, to view the trees and shrubs in their glorious spring colours.


11.30am – Arrival, coffee and pastries

12.00 noon – Talk by John Leatherdale in the John Evelyn room

12.45pm – Walk through to the Mary Beale restaurant with Andrew Beale, stopping off at some of the maps and paintings en-route

1.00pm – Three course lunch in the Mary Beale restaurant, including white and red wine, Café du Monde coffee and homemade petits fours

Optional Arboretum tour after lunch with Andrew Beale for those who would like.
