5 Lowkey attractions to visit during your West Lodge Park London staycation this Summer

Looking for a peaceful London staycation that stays clear of the capital’s typical tourist throngs? Then West Lodge Park is the place for you this summer. Situated within 35 acres of rolling countryside, we’re an ideal retreat for those looking for quiet relaxation and great food and drink. Oh, but if you do fancy venturing out, here are some ideas for great local destinations that tourists haven’t quite latched onto… yet.

Capel Manor Gardens

If you’ve got the kids or grandkids with you, then head down to this lovely stately home, gardens and zoo. With lemurs, meerkats, alpacas and even a maze for the kids, and a stunning Georgian house and gardens to explore, there’s something here for all the family.

Forty Hall Vineyard tours

Our Wine List may have many exotic tipples on offer, but did you know you can find the home of English wine just a couple of miles down the road from West Lodge Park? That’s right, London’s only commercial-scale vineyard is right on our doorstep, and throughout the Summer months you can enjoy regular tours and wine tasting events. We heartily recommend sampling the award-winning Sparkling London Brut, which is threatening to put English wine well and truly on the map.

Oh, and don’t forget to visit Enfield Farmer’s Market while you’re there too.

Ruislip Lido Beach

There are plenty of beaches within reach of London. But did you know the city actually has a beach of its very own? And you can access it from Ruislip Tube Station. You’ll find the Lido located on a 60-acre lake, nestled in a woodland nature reserve that’s twice the size of Hyde Park.

This tropical-themed spot has existed since the 1950s, and offers a truly unique London experience.

Highgate Cemetery Tour

This stunning cemetery is probably the most famous in London, and the final resting place of the likes of Henry Moore and Karl Marx, so we won’t claim it’s totally off the tourist trail. But head to the west part of the cemetery, where you can take a look around the incredible overgrown catacombs, mausoleums and gothic splendour on offer. It’s an unforgettable way to learn about London’s Victorian history.

Beale Arboretum

You won’t have to go far for this one. Step foot outside West Lodge Park, and you’ll be surrounded by 35 acres of nature. With over 800 species of trees from around the world, and several national collections on show, this oasis is yours to enjoy during your stay with us. We may be biased, but it’s truly the most serene and peaceful place in London.
