Rumoured to have been built in the 1400’s and regularly hosting Royalty and dignitaries through the ages, West Lodge is steeped in history. Artwork adorns the walls including original works by Britain’s first professional painter Mary Beale.

Started in 1769, Beales Hotels’ is Hertfordshire’s longest running family business and we now have our 9^th generation working at the hotel.

There are strong community & local links and our classical concerts have been attended by thousands of satisfied guests over the years.
